JEDI SPIRIT RANT

*original 1983 version w/Sebastian Shaw:
*crappy 2004 dvd edtion with creepy looking Hayden replacment:
----
One of the many things I hate in Lucas' SPECIAL EDITIONs of the originals was the JEDI SPIRIT scene, where they replaced SEBASTIAN SHAW as the spirit of Anakin, with HAYDEN CHRISTIANSEN. For one, that's blasphemy. Two, they didn't replace Shaw when the helmet came off, so now there's that inconsistancy... of course, I would have exploded with anger if they HAD put Hayden into the helmet removal scene.

The point is
the new scene was completely unnecessary and screws up the scene and ending. It's also a kick-to-the-nuts for Fans. Why not simply go for it and replace Yoda with the shitty looking puppet from Phantom Menace? And replace Alec with Ewan? Just get it over with, Lucas, and ruin everything. Maybe he's waiting for the Special Special Special Edition on HD..... oh shit, or for the 3D version he's working on. Oh god... you know I'm right....

Anyway, what sparked this rant was I saw today that they made a figure of the Hayden Anakin Jedi Spirit. Bah. Why he and Obi-Wan are not in the blue plastic like Yoda, and instead dressed like they're going to a Ziggy Stardust David Bowie concert, is beyond me.

It still confuses me why Anakin's spirit can even return at all. I thought ROTS said something about Qui Gon and Yoda knew about this and he'd teach Obi-Wan or something ?!
In the annotated screenplays book it says
'In a revised draft only the shimmering images of Ben and Yoda appear at the end of the film. The story concludes with Luke looking pensive."his thoughts elsewhere, perhaps with the shimmering images of Ben and Yoda,or perhaps with someone else, somewhere else"

In earlier drafts Yoda,Obi-Wan and Anakin return in the flesh at the end of the film.

Besides you've only posted this to annoy me ! :)
